There is an old shop on one of main street in central funabashi.
It is on the way to funabashi shrine from funabashi railway station.
I feel like just the place is another world.
Especialy I'm impressed by lattice of second floor.

I took this photo in the Tobu-funabashi railway station yesterday.
It is very simple, only few flowers.
But green and red makes it fresh.

Pocky
Pocky is a long seller Japanese snack.
It has been put on market since 1966 by Ezaki Glico company that is a Japanese food maker.
Pocky is a biscuit stick coated with chocolate.
Name "Pocky" is come from a onomatopoie word, "pokkin" that is a sound of breaking something narrow and long.
Photo below is strawberry pocky.
By the way, the other day I found a nice story about pocky in internet.
It is The Sweetest Pocky written by an autstralian who lives in Japan.

She is a popular anime character.
"Maruko" is her first name.
"Chibi Maruko-chan" means "Little Maruko".
In this time, She appears as a character of Happey set(Happy meal) of MacDonald.

Those are utensils for Japanese tea celemony.

Funabashi Face Building
It is really faceing to Funabashi railway station.
It is open in 2004, and changed the scenery from funabashi station.
This building is distinguished by each flor for commerce, pabulic, and office.
It is located between Funabashi station (JR) and Keisei funabashi station ( Keisei Railway).
We can go into "Face" from both station by walking on pedestrian deck.

Jyugatsuzakura
Jyugatsuzakura is a kind of cherry tree.
Name "Jyugatsuzakura" means literally "October cherry tree (blossom)".
It is rare cherry tree.
It blossoms twice in a year, spring and fall.
Here in fubanashi, It comes in blossoms in october, little by little.

They have over 100 studio in Japan.
I took this photo in Lalaport Tokyo-bay located bay area of funabashi city.
They have various classes such as kids class, English class.
Kids class is for children ( age 4 -12 ).
Kids learn importance of food to learn cooking.

Peko-chan as a fashionable dresser
Today, TV news were dark tune all day.
Tokyo stock market open at low, and sharply down.
Selling called selling.
And a insurance company went under.

Today's Peko-chan is so fashionable.
She is eternally 6 years old.

Lalaport Tokyo-bay
Lalaport Tokyo-bay is large shopping mall housing 540 specialty shops.
It is located in the bay area of funabashi-city.
It has large parking.
You can also go there by free bus from some train stations.
It has also various amusement facilities such as movie theater.
And various events are held.
This small train is popular among little children.
I think this shopping mall is good for families who has little children.
Because They can enjoy without shopping.

Lighthouse in funabashi shrine
Around center of the photo above, you can see something over the tree.
The lighthouse hide behind the tree.
It is pity that I was not able to take it clearly.
Photo above is a photo on the borad which is set in front of the lighthouse.
The lighthouse is located in the precincts of Funabashi shrine . It was built in 1880, and continued operation until 1895.
It is rare lighthouse in some reason.
Almost people are suprised to see the lighthouse which is standing in city central.
Before they did land reclamation, it was near to the beach.
The lighthouse was built by local peaple, and then it was formally approved by the goverment.
First and second floor are Japanese style, and third floor is western style
It doesn't work now as lighthouse.
But it is one of symbol of Funabashi city.
And I think the lighthouse is still watching our daily life.
The discreption below is excerpt from the discreption by Funabashi city board of education.
The light source consists of three petroleum lamps and three reflex mirror made of tin.
The light could be seen from a distant of 11 killometers.
The light employs no lens, but the technology was quite current for its time.

Funabashi-Daijingu (Funabashi Shrine)
Funabashi shrine is a shinto shrine located in funabashi-city.
They say that the origin of the shrine was in AD 110.
The shrine is appears in "Nihon sandai jitsuroku" ("The True Records of Three Generation") which is Japanese national chronicle compleated 901.
Photo above is front approch to the main shrine or the outer shrine.
This is a "Komainu", a guardian dog.
Photo above is rear approch to the main shrine or the outer shrine.
Photo above is the main shrine.
The shrine was burn down by the battle in funabashi of Boshin war(1868-1869) .
But rebuilt in 1873.
In the precinct of the shrine is usually calm.
We pray infront of the outer shrine.
The shrine is worsihped by the folks of funabashi and suround.
Photo above is "Dohyo" in the precinct of the shrine.
"Dohyo" is a ring in which Sumo wrestling bouts are held.

Some time local products in Japan, some time low-priced music CD, some time vegetables fresh from farm, etc.
The other day, they sell sweet from Kyoto.

Tobu Noda line
Tobu Noda line is a railroad line which is maneged by Tobu railway co.,ltd.
It runs between funabashi (chiba prefecture) and omiya (saitama prefecture).

I took it around 6pm.
It is not crowded yet.
