A Family Restaurant in the Evening

This is a family restaurant on the road side.
"Family restaurant" is a Japanized English word.
It means casual dining restaurant.
We usually call it just "famiresu".

Station Kiosk

This is a train station kiosk.
They prepare various items.
It is very convenient for the people who commute by train.
I took this photo on the concourse of funabashi station.

Vending Machine in the Dark

This is a vending machine for soft drinks.
They sell Japanese tea, tea, coffee and so on by this machine.
Blue sign under sample indicate cold drink, red sign indicate hot drink.
In winter, those hot drinks are sold well.

Bus terminal

This bus terminal is located in front of funabashi railway station.
It is under the pedestrian deck.
Those buses are used for our daily life such as commute.

Cherry Blossoms in the Supermarket

Photo above is a school satchel counter in the supermarket.
We are in mid winter.
Those cherry blossoms are imitation.
In Japan, school year open in April.
Those school satchels are sold for children who enter elementary school in this year.
By the way, we call such school satchel "randoseru".

Egg Vending Machine in the Evening

I have already posted about Egg Vending machine.
It is a vending machine for which my wife usually buy eggs.
Usually those eggs are sold out by evening, but on that day many eggs were remain in the early evening.
I took a photo for this blog.
Because I thought it had some atmosphere....(?)

How to Get Sashimi at Half price

I like Sashimi ( thinly sliced raw fish ).
But Price of sashimi is getting high in these days.
So I usually try to buy it at half price.

If you go to supermarket in Japan in late time, you may find sashimi sold at half price.

You can see two big Kanji symbol on the label on the package in this photo.
The word 半額 means half price. ( We pronounce it "HANGAKU" )

But I don't know actually what time they get the price down.
It is different in each days.
Of course If those sashimi are sold well, they never discount.
And, too late time those are sold out.

It depends on luck.

Community Bus

This small bus runs this local small area.
It is small, so it can run narrow road in low cost.
We call such a bus "community bus".
Usually a unique design is painted on such bus with every route

Konbini Lunch

We usually call convenience store "KONBINI".
"Konbini Lunch" is a important item for convenience store in Japan.

Photo above is Onigiri.
It is called "rice ball" in English, but usually it isn't ball shaped.
I think Konbini-Onigiri is smaller than average homemade onigiri.
But Konbini-Onigiri has beautiful shape.

These are Makizushi and Inarizushi.
Makizushi is a rolled sushi.
Inarizushi is a pouch of deep-fried tofu(bean curd) stuffed with sushi rice.

These are Konbini-Bento.
Bento means packed box lumch.
I think average Konbini-Bento is oily in comparison with average homemade bento.
But it might good for young people.

Koban

Koban is a small police station which serves security needs of local community.
If you visit Japan, and you have trouble such lost your way or lost something and other, just go to koban and ask help to police officer. They are very kind.

100 Yen shop

In Japan, 100 yen shop sell various goods for 100 yen each item. There are lot's of daily necessaries, like small articl of cosmetic, stationary, processed food, kitcen ware, table ware, craft goods, and so many more.
This photo is one of 100 yen shop chain "DAISO".
If I find some cool goods in there, I will post my blog.

Bicycle parking close to the Funabashi station

Going to the railroad station by the car to get on the train, is not general in Japan.
In Japan, most railroad station is located central of the town, especialy in urban.
So driving parking close to the railroad station is limitted and expencive.
Many of people go to the the railroad station by walking , taking the bus, or riding bicycle.
these photos are bicycle parking close to Funabashi station.

Vending machine on the street

In Japan, There are vending machines in various place.
The vending machine, in this photo , is new type.
On the liquid crystal screen of the vending machine, short movie commercial is displayed.
And we can use electric money with cell phone to buy beverage from it.

It is not mere machine anymore.

A street vegetable vender in front of station

Today, while I was walking, I happend to see a street vegetable vender in front of Funabashi station.
They sell vegetables sent from farms in Funabashi-city directly.
They are showing the name of farmer to hold the attention of consumers who ask food safety.
