Osechi (or osechi-ryori) are traditional special foods for new year.
Originally, those were made at each home.
But in these days, many people buy it.
This photo is samples of osechi in the department store.

Very colourful! They look like candies, are they sweet?
Thanks, JM.
"Osechi" are not sweet.
But some of them have sweet taste like sweet.
HUUMM...All that seems very attractive...Ü
I had to look up the meaning of osechi and ended up reading quite a lot about it. It's a wonderful custom! I'd love to be able to do something like this for New Year, but using Tagalog or English words as the basis. This is going to take a lot of research — maybe I'll be ready to do it for 2010. Thank you, Nobu!
More oishii food...Nobu, you torture me!!!
What a wonderful idea and they are all presented so well.
What's osechi? I don't have time (like Hilda:) for a google research!! Ciao!!
These look very interesting - it's something worth exploring for on the Internet - and I'm really happy to learn more about Japan. Bye and greetings from Croatia.
