Funabashi Ramen Yokocho

funabashi ramen yokocho

I took these photos in the shopping center which is connected funabashi railway station.
"ramen yokocho" means ramen alley.
Ramen is a kind of noodle dish.
There are four ramen shops along the passage.
Those ramen shops are branch of popular ramen shops in Tokyo and Yokohama.

This reminds me of Banana Yoshimoto...she always includes food in her novels and Ramen was one of the many she mentioned. I am glad to see what it looks like!

It is strange to read that the picture above shows a shopping center!if we coud not see the ceiling,we could think of a small street, with lanterns...

Over here they sell packets of Ramen noodles. They are REALLY cheap and a lot of college kids live on the noodles. They come with a little packet of spices that you add to the water. They are really good and very filling.

It is rainy and cold here in Southern California today, a big bowl of Ramen would be just right. I agree with Malyss, the lanterns do make it look more like an outside street. Great taste in your photo Nobu!

I was never very good at eating Japanese ramen noodles, they were very hot, and I had been taught not to slurp, also, so it was very hard for me to do it, they were also large size, so hard to slurp, but oh, every child loves to slurp, and I like this Japanese custom, very practical.

I miss Ramen shops with large hand made pottery bowls full of lovely soups.. umm, such flavors and beauty.
